Right after graduating from high school, I got a job doing programming for a furniture manufacturer and wholesaler. I wrote inventory and accounting software for them. Then I started programming for the University of Washington Law School. I wrote a number of programs for them. One was used to do cost accounting. Another was used for at least ten years to keep track of their alumni. These were primarily written in dBase II and III.

I attended college at the University of Puget Sound, in Tacoma, WA, and eventually received my Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. While in college I continued to program professionally part-time.

After graduating from college, I briefly worked for the University of Washington Law School full time as a Systems Analyst.
